40 Years and Counting
It all started with Orvil Phillips (my grandfather). During the late 40's into the early 50's he had a small shop called “Philips Garage” in our family home town of Webbers Falls, Oklahoma. My dad grew up going to the shop after school and working for granddad. Things were tough in the little town and he eventually closed down and moved here to California near his older brother and younger sister. He spent the rest of his working life as a mechanic until his retirement. In his spare time he restored cars and sold Ford Model “A” parts at swap meets (his love was the Model “A”).
In 1976, George Phillips (my dad) opened our doors under the name of “Tradeway Transmissions”. I, also like my dad grew up working in the shop after school and through the summers. Obviously our main area of specialty was in transmission repairs and rebuilding and I learned a lot through those years.
In 1986, dad purchased the Chevron station near the corner of Yosemite Avenue and Union Road here in Manteca and placed me as the station's general manager. This station had 3 service bays and two technicians performing a wide array of general automotive services. After a few years of operating the two businesses separately, we eventually consolidated our entire repair operations into our one shop here at 1003 Moffat Blvd and changed our name to Phillips Auto Care to reflect our complete automotive service.

We open at 8:00 am & close at 5:00 pm allowing you to drop off early and pick-up late.

Towing Available
Sunshine Auto Care contracts with local towing companies for roadside assistance. If you need a tow, just call us and we will handle the details.
Eventually dad retired and I became the general manager and then owner of Phillips Auto Care taking care to continue his commitment to excellence and high standards of honesty and integrity. I've always been proud of my “automotive heritage” growing up in a family of gear heads. I guess that's why I'm still here, 40 years and still counting.

Priority Service
Our “turnaround time” on most repairs is remarkably fast. When scheduled by appointment, most repairs can be completed on the same day, minor services such as oil changes can be performed while you wait.
Shuttle Service
Sunshine Auto Care provides shuttle service from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday to Manteca, Ripon, and other surrounding areas.
